Non sine periculo.
I got that from the show: The Gentlemen on Netflizzy.
That’s what the graphic says.
It’s hella blurry for a reason.
It was just supposed to be an inside reference to let my niece know that I finished the 1st season.
˙ʎƃƃᴉſ uosɐǝs ʇsƖ ǝɥʇ pǝɥsᴉuᴉɟ I
Six upside down/backwards words was all that I planned on typing.
Season 1 episode 7 was titled “Not Without Danger.”…which was foreshadowing the big season finale when Eddie told Susie about the family motto, “Non sine periculo,” in episode 8.
I liked the quote.
At this point, I liked the show.
It was categorized as an action, comedy, drama, crime show.
Then, I made a mistake…I decided to steamroll through season 2.
WTF!?
It turned into an action, drama, crime show.
I literally did research on who all wrote & directed the episodes for season 1 vs 2.
It’s a team; they definitely rotate the writers & directors, but Guy Ritchie is the coach/player.
If you haven’t seen season 2 yet, this is where you should stop reading.
________________
If you’re still reading this & you have yet to see season 2…you’re nosy AF, don’t blame me for ruining it.
Bruh, I’ve seen better foreshadowing on Arthur, yes, PBS Kids Arthur.
I’m not going in depth about the entire show; you can do that on your own.
I’m about to go over how whoever is in charge of that show doesn’t know the difference between foreshadowing & a spoiler.
Which ruined the whole second season for me.
Let’s start with the introduction of Susie’s “guy friend.”
They made it so obvious that buddy was on some bullshit that by the time it was revealed, it wasn’t shocking.
The restaurant scene was a spoiler…not foreshadowing.
They literally zoomed in on the gun that he had.
Why would you do that?
Next we have the armed men driving straight up to the front door of an estate…to kidnap the baby.
First, this show is set in present day. (Yes, I researched that.)
This makes the second time that armed men came up to the front door of Eddie’s family estate.
Scarface was hustling in the early 80s…that brother had better surveillance & security than Eddie?
Anyway, the guys get inside & the butler goes from cowering underneath a desk in one scene to confronting guys with semi-automatic rifles in the next…again WTF!?
Next, buddy takes one to the leg.
Before that, Eddie’s sister, brother-in-law & nephew had already made it to the ride.
They heard the gunfire, and the brother-in-law runs back in to help.
He told his wife, “Stay in the car, it’s bulletproof.”
She sees her butler come limping out of the house, shot…
Guess what she did? She got out to help the butler.
Guess what the camera did? Zoom in on the baby left in the ride.
Cut to Eddie’s sister, brother-in-law, mother, the gamekeeper & the butler all in the car driving away…guess who’s not in the ride.
Again, that’s not foreshadowing! That’s a spoiler!
I wasn’t surprised.
The fact that they got the baby without anybody noticing…including the cameramen, the director or the actors means those gunmen were ninjas too.
There is literally no way possible that they could have gotten the baby out of that car without anyone noticing.
I honestly wanted to throw my remote at the TV. No, seriously, I thought about it.
Last but certainly not least.
The best/worst foreshadowing of all time.
This is not in order because this scene happened before the ninja gunmen kidnappers scene.
The plane crash.
They kept saying…this isn’t going to work.
There were hella red flags, but he proposed & they got married.
He wanted to drive.
She wanted to fly. (Red flag!)
They decided to race to Switzerland.
He said that it was going to take about 30 minutes to get the plane ready. (Red flag!)
More PBS Kids-ass foreshadowing.
Not only is the plane not going to make it, but the show also wants him to be in the perfect position to see the plane.
Of course the plane blew up.
Of course he saw it happen.
It’s not foreshadowing. It’s a spoiler.
I’ve seen Tubi movies with better storylines & foreshadowing…seriously, go watch Sinister Surgeon & Ex Door Neighbor & tell me that I’m wrong.
Season 2 holds roughly 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, up from Season 1’s 75%.
Bruh…fuck Rotten Tomatoes.
This is why I have commitment issues.
I was committed to watching this show.
Now, I won’t be committed to anything.
Relationships, jobs or TV shows.
Peace & enjoy your week.
